Thin Lizzy, Phil Lynott, and His Mom Philomena
Last month I visited Phil Lynott’s mother, Philomena, who wrote the biography My Boy: The Philip Lynott Story. On the way to her home, we stopped at Phil’s grave to pay our respects to the legendary leader of the Irish rock band Thin Lizzy.

Philomena’s home is a wonderful place to visit. She autographed copies of her biography of Phil for us and showed us some compelling memorabilia from her son’s career. We were introduced to Philomena by Alan McHugh from County Cavan, who is himself a very talented musician in the Thin Lizzy tribute band Renegade. We had a memorable afternoon with the beautiful Philomena.

There is a wonderful statue in the center of Dublin just off Grafton Street on Harry Street in honor of Phil Lynott. The statue had been damaged and was recently restored. Just a few days after seeing Philomena, the restored statue was unveiled on August 15. There was a huge turnout honoring Phil. The statue looks great.
