Donovan: “My 80th Summer Traveling Around the Sun”

By Chris Murray

It was a great pleasure to be with Donovan celebrating his enduring career on his Tale of The Gael tour. I accompanied him to his three sold out-shows at The Pavilion Theatre in Dublin, as well as at two sold-out shows in Cork at The Everyman Theatre. The shows were extraordinary, with Donovan performing over two dozen hit songs from his early days to today. The legendary folk guitarist, Steve Cooney, joined Donovan in the middle section of Donovan’s set. It was a ‘tour de force’.

Joe Dermody wrote in The Irish Examiner of the shows in Cork, saying that, “Donovan looks fantastic, every inch the Sunshine Superman, resplendent in his cool gear and green guitar. His guitaring is as rhythmic as ever, beautiful clean finger-picking. And he is sharp as a pin with his stories.”

Hail the Sunshine Superman!
