Mavin Staples, Hamilton Live, and Bob Dylan
I got to see the wonderful Mavis Staples perform last night at Hamilton Live in Washington, D.C. What a great show it was with Mavis singing her songs of freedom and joy.
In the recently published book of photos from Rizzoli of Bob Dylan by Ted Russell, Bob Dylan NYC 1961-1964, I quote Mavis at the beginning of my introduction to that book.
“What he was writing was inspirational. He was writing the truth.” – Mavis Staples
Bob Dylan and his Band are touring the U.S. in June and July with Mavis Staples. Included in that tour is a stop at Forest Hills Stadium in Queens, NY on July 6, Dylan’s first concert at Forest Hills since his historic gig there on August 28, 1965. I was at that show and it blew my mind.
