Last night at the Signature Theatre in Shirlington, Virginia, Sheryl Crow and Barry Levinson made an appearance to talk about the new musical based on Levinson’s classic film Diner. The talk was moderated by Washington Post theater critic Peter Marks. Nine-time Grammy award winner Sheryl Crow wrote the music and lyrics for the musical, which premieres tonight. It was an engaging evening and the audience enjoyed hearing about how the film became a musical. Listening to Levinson and Crow’s insights in the development of the production was fascinating. It was also great entertainment as Sheryl and Barry gave some personal anecdotes along with lots of humor. The play is scheduled to continue through January 25 after tonight’s opening.
