The Strypes at The Troubadour, on David Letterman, and in Rolling Stone

My favorite band right now is The Strypes from Cavan, my hometown in Ireland. I was in Los Angeles and saw the Strypes do a fantastic set at the legendary Troubadour. Elton John discovered the Strypes and signed them to his music management company. I met Elton at the Troubadour gig and mentioned to him our mutual friend the great photographer Greg Gorman. Greg has had several exhibitions at Govinda Gallery and was a big part of our Sound and Vision: Monumental Rock & Roll Photography museum tour and Elton was glad to hear that I knew him. The Strypes killed it at the Troubadour… they were brilliant.

Just a couple of weeks ago the Strypes appeared on the David Letterman show and Dave’s reaction to the preformance of their song “What A Shame” was extraordinary. Don’t miss his reactions at the end.

The recent issue of Rolling Stone, with Julia Louis-Dreyfus on the cover, features a great story on the Strypes.

Congratulations to the Strypes and to my friend Niall Walsh who is on the road working with the band.
