Obama’s Rolling Thunder

by Chris Murray on March 29, 2016

Over the past 15 years Govinda Gallery has organized six exhibitions between Havana and Washington. Curating these exhibitions has been a most fulfilling creative collaboration.

I happened to be in Havana during President Obama’s visit as well as during the Rolling Stones’ free concert. I look forward to posting a few blogs from that amazing week.

I was watching the Presidents arrival on Cuban TV in Havana with some friends. It started to rain with thunder and lightning adding a celestial drama to an already deeply dramatic moment. I was moved to see the President and his family set foot in Cuba.

The President’s motorcade went right past our apartment on the Malecon, the world famous boulevard with its sea wall on the ocean. It was exciting to see it pass standing outside with friends from Cuba cheering. Here is a video clip of it passing.
