Kirkland Burnett Panzer Dinner Party

Photographers Douglas Kirkland and David Burnett share a laugh with Mary Panzer, Curator of Photography at the National Portrait Gallery, at the dinner celebrating Kirkland’s Icons exhibition at Govinda Gallery on November 4th, 1993. The exhibition was also a launch for Kirkland’s book Icons (Collins Publishers San Francisco), featuring portraits of Dustin Hoffman, Cindy Crawford, Andy Warhol, and Cher, among others. This groundbreaking exhibition featured, for the first time, Kirkland’s photographs printed at Nash Editions and was one of the first exhibitions to feature the new fine art printing technology championed by Nash Editions.
